The Doraemon manga follows a young boy named Nobita Nobi as he goes on a wide array of adventures with his best friend, the titular cat/robot Doraemon, who has been sent from the 22nd century by Nobi’s descendants to help the lonesome fourth-grader overcome his problems with a wide array of futuristic gadgets.
The derivative anime series has amassed a huge following from both kids and adults during its nearly fifty-year-long run, and thus it’s unsurprising that the 2014 CGI film Stand By Me Doraemon was such a success, making more than $183 million worldwide. A sequel, Stand By Me Doraemon 2, was released in November 2020.
